right grade elastic for the job 1, to elastic your pole you,ll need a bung to anchor the shock absorber inside the top , second or third section . you,ll also need an elastic -to- line connector for the tip end ,and a wire thereader. seek advice at your tackle shop explain what you hope to catch and they may even set your elastic system up for you sit on the level 2, before you start fishing ,adust the legs of your tackle box to gain a level surface. this is important to prevent back pain. place everything you will need-bait , catapult, landing net, keepnet + plus spare butt and tip section- within easy reach. let it slide 3,treat your pole elastic with one of the purpose -made lubricants , running the bottle along a length pulled from your pole or squirting it down inside from the bung end . elastic which sticks in the tip section when you hook a big fish is no good to anyone its worth going spare 4.if you can afford a little more haveing at least one spare top three section kit allows you to change tactics without the time consuming business of tackling up again. and if your catching steadily but get snapped up ,a spare tip section rigged up identically will get you straight back in action . some companies charge ridiculous amounts for spare top three sets , others provide one or more when you buy the pole .this is worth considering if your reading this before splashing out some major tackle shops sell universal top threes , which fit any brand of pole , for a lot less than the genuine article get on a roll 5,a pole roller prevents sections scratching on the ground when your bringing in a hooked fish. find the best postion by trial and error . some like to roll straight back, others prefer to swing the pole round parallel with the water . either way , make sure the roller is close enough so the pole doesnt sag. practise will make perfect 6, firing a catapult as you hold your pole is a knack which must be learned , so avoid the temptation to use your tackle box side rests every time you want to feed. regular feeding is a must for success, and if you put the pole down everytime you reach for the catapult you,ll miss a lot of bites. hold the pult in your leading hand , with the pouch in the other instead of pulling back , its better to push the pult forward to tension the latex , then let go of the pouch , get practising cup or cradle 7, pinpoint accuracy is usually needed when introducing ground bait. different sized pole cups which clip on the tip give you this , but you,ll need to practise shipping out the pole with a loaded cup without spilling the contents. a swinging cradle hanging below the pole is easiest for beginners. three rigs to put you right 8, pole floats , fine line, tiny shot and small hooks form pole rigs. floats with bodies buoyant at the top suit flowing water , and those wider at the bottom are for stillwater. depth , wind or flow strength dictates size . plan ahead to get an edge 9, rigs are fiddly to construct on the bank so most anglres make them at home then take a selection on winders noting hook ,line, shot and float sizes. neutral buoyancy devices, like dosapiombo and neutrabuoy, grip the pole float stem and drop into water to let you add exactly the right weight . dont do a long stretch 10, match line lengths so fish swing to hand with out streching, but allow for elastic . when you hook a big fish , the elastic will pull even further out and you may have to net the specimen with extra sections still on the pole.
