Tried here on Sunday and had a decent ish day. Fished on sweetcorn in the Margins on the Carp Pond. Had some decent bites in the first couple of hours but couldn't hit em. Then at about 4 O'clock had my first fish. It was my first time using a pole so was a little hesitant at battling too hard and took me about 5 mins to get in. It was a nice common carp of around 3 - 4lb. Lost my bloody landing net in the battle as the thread had worn without me realizing. After about 20 mins of fishing around on the bottom with my landing net handle I retrieved it. After a while I was back in with a different landing net handle. Another half hour passed and I struck into a nice bite. Another 5 minute battle landed me a 5 - 6lb mirror. All in all it wasn't a fantastic day but after 6 sessions of nothing I was just please to be back back catching again.

I would advise anyone in the area to try these ponds. If you like a nice featury water with comfortable and well maintained pegs then this place is for you.

Settled on a number 14 in mi power top 2. Got another power top 2 which im gonna stick an 18 or 20 in for margin bashing, and then a match top 2 which as got a 6 in. I might uprate the match one as I don't fish for silvers really.

Any reason not fishing for silvers? if the carp don't have a chew what do you do, sit there not catching. Surely a few silvers prevent being disheartened & going home early spoiling a day out. Before upgrading elastic make sure your match kit will stand it.

Dunno really mate. Just seems like a lot of effort for nothing really. I wouldn't mind catching decent silvers but the little bits that you can just lift out annoy me. And singling out the decent silvers is hard really

Decent been prob over 1/2 lb to me mate. I know I shouldn't discount catching and if I was fishing matches I'd be after anything. It just pisses me off when you get your float exactly where you want it right close into some reeds for the first time all day and you have to reel in for a fish that barely even moved the float. I like to have a tiny bit of a fight.
